CASE STUDY: How I work with clients to build out a crisis communications plan.

Background: As a communications consultant, my task was to craft a crisis communications plan for the world's largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the advancement of uncrewed systems and robotics to respond to an unauthorized air traffic disruption in a major city.

Challenge (s):

The challenge was to offer the organization a strategic roadmap that focused on AUVSI’s position, emphasized industry responsibility, and highlighted AUVSI’s ongoing education and safety efforts through the following:

  • Key Messaging

  • Target Audiences

  • Recommended Distribution Channels

  • Supporting Content that could be effective in addressing the situation.

Background:

When board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Quanita Crable released her new book she sharing her compelling story of providing women with high-quality care for their unique needs across North Texas would require a strategic effort. I worked with Dr. Crable on a multi-channel communications strategy to introduce the book to regional audiences, expand its book’s reach and to help create momentum.

Challenge(s):

The challenge was to design and execute a digital marketing-communications plan that would accomplish the following goals:

  • Create Visibility in a targeted market with a specific and often underserved readership

  • Craft Meaningful Messaging that would resonate across platforms

How it Happened (Traditional Outreach coupled with a targeted digital strategy):

  • Digital Integrations: Optimized landing page (s) with a targeted email strategy

  • Community Outreach: In-person book launches and other grassroots events to build “buzz” and introduce Dr. Crable’s message to regional audiences

This non-profit, social services organization with headquarters in Washington, D.C. GWUL emphasizes a wide range of services to under-resourced communities, including offering short-term emergency financial assistance to families. This partnership offered a social media campaign using existing brand messaging that highlighted essential services in light of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a targeted strategic communications and events plan to donors, supporters and external stakeholders
